Day 365 – March 18, 2023

Exactly 1 year ago today, Harvey received his cancer diagnosis. Wow. It feels so much longer than 365 days ago. Yet, what an accomplishment – especially when we were living moment to moment, not knowing what each next day would bring. (Right on cue Hattie, Harvey’s sister, tested positive for COVID during the authoring of this update.) Today our warrior is surrounded by loving family showering him with praise of his achievements while he enjoys his favorite (celebratory) comfort foods. The challenges and changes that Harvey has endured physically, mentally, and emotionally this past year are unfathomable to us. A year ago this day we didn’t know if our boy would experience another birthday. Another holiday. Another new season. The memories both haunt us and elicit a feeling of unspeakable gratitude for the progress he’s made since then. Harv remains in remission with over 2.5 years of cancer treatment ahead. But he’s remained healthy and at home. We’re truly blessed.

A more detailed update will be coming soon (medical info, make-a-wish update, and what we’ve been up to). For now: We share with you a look back at the beginning of the brave new world we faced as a family through the eyes of our cancer fighting hero. We thank you – truly thank you – for all the love and support you’ve shown us this past year. It’s full speed ahead!

  2. OMG I’m so happy to see this video. Gabriel and I was talking about him a couple of days ago. I will show him this video. Gabriel has a birthday coming up and ask me if he could invite Harvey and I explain to him that he couldn’t be around other people as of yet. We are keeping him in our prayers. Gabriel and I have started a monthly donation to kids with Cancer.
